The purpose of this page is to give our students additional resources for English language and topics covered in class. 

Social Entrepreneurship

The New Heroes – is a miniseries from PBS which introduces us to 14 inspiring social entrepreneurs who are changing lives in marginalized and under-resourced communities around the world.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy – is an online magazine that writes stories about nonprofits and people that are actively changing our world. A philanthropist is someone who seeks to promote the welfare of others by donating to a good cause.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation –  is the largest private foundation in the world. Over 1 billion dollars is donated each year to the advancement of global health and development.

OneWorld.net – is an online portal that brings the latest news, action, campaigns, and organizations in human rights and global issues.

Idealist.org – connects people and organizations to help find practical solutions to current problems. It is also a resource for finding International jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities relating to social entrepreneurship.

Yunus Centre – Muhammed Yunus is the father of social entrepreneurship and Nobel Prize winner. He founded the Grameen Bank, which gives small loans to poor, rural villages in Bangladesh.
